New Book Club Blog

We're trying something new for book club! Join us and check it out!

How Book Club works:

1. Every month a list of books will be posted.

2. SLIS students then read one of the books.

3. SLIS students then write a book review of the book they read.

4. Book reviews are posted to the blog and students are invited to comment on each others reviews.

If you would like to be part of Book Club:

1. Email the LISSO officers at lissouk@gmail.com

2. Include that you would like to join book club and your email address.

3. You will be added to the author list of this blog.

4. You can then write, edit, upload images, and publish your own posts.

Also we are still looking for a Treasurer, our previous Treasurer, Tyler Nix. had this to say about being a LISSO Officer: "Being a LISSO officer is a great way to meet fellow students and build leadership experience. April 2014

On the 2nd we had our April meeting. We also had it available through Adobe Connect for those who were not available for the on campus meeting.

1. Our book for this month's book club is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. On April 26th there will be a brunch discussion over the book, and an Adobe Connect book discussion available too.
2. April 15th at 7 p.m. is our monthly pizza night at Pazzo's!
3. The mock Student Conference is on April 18th, and after the conference some of us will be going to Country Boy from 5-7 p.m.
4. Elections will be held soon for new officers. Details to come.
5. There was also talk for a May 3rd dinner (potluck) in honor of graduation. Details to come.

Febraury 2014

This month we will support ALA's Dine to Donate fundraiser at the Applebee's on Nicholasville Road on February 20th. It lasts the entire day, and make sure to bring the flyer to have them donate the 10% of your tab. A group of us may all go together for dinner, if people want.

On February 27th (a Thursday) we will have another night out at Pazzo's which always are a rousing success. It starts at 7 p.m. and we will use it as a temporary meeting, and plan for a meeting to follow in March.
