Hometown: Navy Brat but my family lives in Suffolk, VA now

Current location: Lexington, KY

Job (if applicable): Intern at Keeneland Library & Student Assistant at Young Library PNM Desk
Why Library Science: My first love was reading in libraries and organizing. It just took me 10 years to realize I could have a career that incorporated both.

Dream job: Corporate archive

What I wanted to be when I grew up: A marine biologist, then a vet, then an architect.

Favorite Book(s): The Tortall Universe by Tamora Pierce, specifically the Protector of the Small series book, Lady Knight

Favorite book(s) growing up: The Harry Potter series, specifically Prisoner of Azkaban

Least favorite book: The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway

Favorite TV show(s): depends on my mood but Supernatural, iZombie, Arrow, or Castle

Favorite vacation spot: Niagara Falls (Canadian side) or Scotland

When I’m not at work you’ll find me: At home, reading or watching TV

Guilty pleasure: Teen Wolf

Snack you can’t resist: Chips and Dip

Installment II: Meet LISSO; Anna

Name: Anna Gault

LISSO position held: President

Hometown: McDonald, Ohio

Current location: Lexington, Kentucky

Job (if applicable): Graduate Assistant in Cataloging and Database Integrity, Graduate Fellow at the Council of State Governments


Why Library Science:  I love organizing information, helping people, researching, and learning.

What I wanted to be when I grew up: A teacher or a veterinarian-- I really like children and cats.

Favorite Book(s): I can’t choose! Right now, I’m reading The Thing on the Doorstep and Other Weird Stories by H.P Lovecraft. I’m enjoying the book club theme this month

Favorite book(s) growing up:  Harry Potter, Madeleine L’Engle stuff, anything I could get my hands on.

Least favorite book: I’m sure I have more, I just remember not being so into the The Red Badge of Courage.  I won’t say anything negative about romance novels, since I know they have quite a following around these parts.

Favorite TV show(s): The X-Files (always), No Reservations,  Game of Thrones,

When I’m not at work you’ll find me: Returning overdue library books to Lexington Public Library, roaming the neighborhood, having a beer with Margaret,  writing poems and subjecting other people to them.

Guilty pleasure: Eating anchovy pizza and watching Daria.

Snack you can’t resist: Crudités, seriously, raw veggies are addicting. Currently, I’m into cucumbers.

Job (if applicable): Education and Outreach GA in Special Collections at UK, Book Conservation Student Technician at UK, and Conservation Assistant at Alex Brooks Conservation  

Why Library Science: I really enjoy the organization and structure of information and objects at libraries and archives.  I really enjoy the physical aspects of books and libraries as well.

Dream job: Book Conservator at a Special Collections Library or Archivist for American Girl®

What I wanted to be when I grew up: Ballerina or artist

Favorite Book(s): Pillars of the Earth, the Little Ren Hen
 
Favorite book(s) growing up: Eric Carl books, Chronicles of Narnia, American Girl Series

Least favorite book: Catcher in the Rye

Picking up litter for funds and fun...

Hiya guys, 

it won't be this creepy, but hopefully your book club book is...
Today at 5:45 we will be meeting in front of the Johnson Center to to pick up litter around the area.  

We will meet once a week for the next four weeks and the UK Sustainability office will give us a little money for a party or guest speaker or cardigans or or or or
